Today: songs about peanuts, peanut-based products and purveyors of peanuts. Just because.
"Peanuts" - Little Joe & The Thrillers
"Peanut Butter" - The Marathons
"Peanut Brittle" - The Actors
"The Peanut Vendor (El Manisero)" - Anita O'Day
"Hot Nuts (Get Em From The Peanut Man)" - Georgia White
"The Peanut Vendor" is one of those tunes that pops up all over the place - here are just two examples.
I'm absolutely gobsmacked that you haven't included the instrumental "Peanut Butter" by the Compass Point All Stars - the backing track for Grace Jones "Pull Up To The Bumper".

Apologies. If I owned it I would have done. Thanks for plugging the gap
DeleteI particularly like the Little Jo and The Actors tracks. I am also wondering what Georgia White is actually referring to.
ReplyDeletePeanuts, obviously, and maybe other nut varieties too. What else could it possibly be?
DeleteI tried to do a peanuts post once - not as well as this

Apologies for my appalling plagiarism, I had no idea I was doing it. If I had then at the very least I would have swapped Little Joe's "Peanuts" for the less good version by Brian Poole & The Tremeloes.
ReplyDeleteWorth it for Georgia White aloine!
